Meet our Exco Team (2026-2027)

Billy Ong
President

Billy joined Toastmasters in 2023 with a simple goal—to become a more confident communicator. Like many new members, he was socially awkward and often struggled to express his thoughts clearly or make his point in conversations.

Through consistent practice, regular speech delivery, and stepping outside his comfort zone, Billy gradually found his voice. Along the way, he competed in Table Topics and Humorous Speech contests, earning 1st Place at the club level in both competitions, 3rd Place at the Area level for Table Topics, and 1st Place at the Area level for Humorous Speech.

More importantly, Toastmasters transformed the way he views personal growth. He believes that success in life isn’t just about improving ourselves—it is about lifting others up and helping them become the best version of themselves.

Guided by this belief, Billy chose to give back to the club through leadership. He has served as Vice President Membership, Vice President Education, and now has the privilege of serving as Club President. His vision is to create a welcoming environment where every member—whether a seasoned speaker or someone taking their very first step—feels supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.

Billy hopes that every member who walks through the club’s doors leaves not only as a better communicator, but also as a more confident leader who is ready to make a positive impact on others.

Laura Wong
Vice President of Education

Laura joined Buona Vista Toastmasters to improve her communication skills — and discovered something far greater: a wholesome community of supportive friends, genuine growth, and a place where showing up authentically is celebrated.

Now serving as Vice President of Education, Laura finds deep purpose in contributing to others’ journeys — helping fellow members find their voice and become the most confident version of themselves.

Andrew Ho
Vice President of Education

“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care”
~ Theodore Roosevelt

I want people to know that I care. A lot.

Kim Ng
Vice President of Membership

“We have two lives. The second begins when we realise we only have one.”

For Kim, that second life is about living intentionally, choosing what matters instead of autopiloting. He has always been nervous about public speaking, which led him to joining Toastmasters a year ago and never looked back.

He believes everyone has a story to tell, and that the story is already within us. By choosing to telling our story and being vulnerable, we learn from each other and connect on a deeper level.

Outside Toastmasters, you’ll find him deep in hybrid fitness training, exploring the world on a shoestring budget, and exchanging ideas on technology, the future of work and minimalist living.

Ren Xun Kwok
Vice President of Membership

Timothy Ho
Vice President of Public Relations

“The heart of the matter is the matter of the heart.”

Timothy believes in Sincerity and intent. Doing everything whole-heartedly with good intent as always , not having personal hidden agenda and we will reap the kindness in return from others.

Timothy also believes in lifelong learning. The more we live the more we should learn in humility. That’s why he joined Toastmasters out of his complacency to build his public speaking skill and confidence despite of busy schedule.

“You can give a thousand reasons to procrastinate, but you only need 1 reason to take action – which is your conviction and determination”

Shalen Aik
Vice President of Public Relations

“Growth isn’t about being fearless. It’s about showing up anyway.”

Shalen believes that growth begins just outside of one’s comfort zone. Since joining Buona Vista Toastmasters Club, she has embraced opportunities to learn, lead, and connect with others through public speaking and leadership. As the incoming Vice President of Public Relations, she hopes to continue sharing the club’s stories, celebrating members’ milestones, and inspiring more people to discover the joy of Toastmasters.

Beyond Toastmasters, Shalen enjoys pole dancing, improv theatre, diving, and travelling—always seeking new experiences that challenge her to grow both on and off the stage.

Futa Mimoto
Treasurer & Secretary

Come join Toastmasters and become a part of BVTMC too!

Futa has always admired street performers who captivate their audience with nothing but their own presence. One day, when he visited a Toastmasters meeting, he felt the same sense of awe – mesmerizing the audience with just their speech, no props. Wanting to experience this himself, Futa joined BVTMC. As expected, it has been an amazing experience.

Sathish Kumar
Sergeant at Arms

Sathish first heard about Toastmasters from his dad, who believed that communication is the key to expressing yourself and succeeding in every aspect of life – from building stronger friendships to excelling at work and pursing personal hobbies. After receiving feedback from his manager to improve his presentation skills, he decided to join Toastmasters without giving much thought to where the journey would lead.

Since then, Sathish has been delivering speeches regularly, met many supportive members, and discovered new ways to connect with others. Grateful for his journey so far, he is excited to continue learning from his fellow members while serving the club as Sergeant at Arms. He looks forward to growing alongside his peers and making meaningful contributions to the Toastmasters community.

Alayna Seah
Immediate Past President

“What’s meant for you will always find its way back.”

Alayna first visited Toastmasters at 15, and left thinking she would never return. But life has a way of bringing us back to the things we’re meant to grow through. Over a decade later, she returned, ready to face her fear of public speaking with a braver heart.

Since then, she’s grown into a voice of encouragement within the community, earning the title of 2023/2024 International Speech Champion at both the club and area levels. Now serving as Club President and Club Mentor, she’s passionate about building a supportive space where members can grow at their own pace.

She makes it a point to speak at least once a month, always believing that confidence is built one small step at a time. And when she’s not on stage, you’ll find her dancing, hiking, or doing improv – soaking in the joy of learning, moving, and connecting with people.
