Alayna Seah
President
“What’s meant for you will always find its way back.”
Alayna first visited Toastmasters at 15, and left thinking she would never return. But life has a way of bringing us back to the things we’re meant to grow through. Over a decade later, she returned, ready to face her fear of public speaking with a braver heart.
Since then, she’s grown into a voice of encouragement within the community, earning the title of 2023/2024 International Speech Champion at both the club and area levels. Now serving as Club President and Club Mentor, she’s passionate about building a supportive space where members can grow at their own pace.
She makes it a point to speak at least once a month, always believing that confidence is built one small step at a time. And when she’s not on stage, you’ll find her dancing, hiking, or doing improv – soaking in the joy of learning, moving, and connecting with people.

Sarah Swee
Vice President, Education
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…”
Sarah lives by the belief that no matter what situation she’s placed in, she should always give it her best shot and surrender the results to God. Any forms of perceived “failure” are steppingstones for growth!
Striving to overcome stage fright, Sarah joined BVTMC. Despite the nerves, she cherishes this platform where she can speak about topics close to her heart, like gratitude. Toastmasters has been a safe space for Sarah to experiment with various communication styles and exco duties.
Professionally, Sarah works in the social service sector, and she believes communicating with seniors is a whole different ball game. These days, she’s dabbling in therapeutic art, experimenting with weird food concoctions, and on the hunt for the best iced chocolate.

Wing Yan Cheng
Vice President, Membership
While others have a strong fashion sense, I have a strong sense for snacks.
I love to eat, but my tummy is small. I want to speak up, but stage fright has me tongue-tied. Still, I’m working on conquering both—so I can eat more and shout about it louder!

Vera Zeng
Vice President, Membership
Let’s do public speaking together!
Vera loves writing, giving speeches and crafting poems! She gets nervous about every presentation but enjoys the stage time.

Timothy Ho
Vice President, Public Relations
“The heart of the matter is the matter of the heart”
Timothy believes in Sincerity and intent. Doing everything whole-heartedly with good intent as always , not having personal hidden agenda and we will reap the kindness in return from others.
Timothy also believes in lifelong learning. The more we live the more we should learn in humility. That’s why he joined Toastmasters out of his complacency to build his public speaking skill and confidence despite of busy schedule.
“You can give a thousand reasons to procrastinate, but you only need 1 reason to take action – which is your conviction and determination”

Shalen Aik
Vice President, Public Relations
Shalen believes in the power of storytelling and authentic communication. As Vice President of Public Relations, she is excited to help share the voices and journeys of fellow members while growing the club’s presence both online and offline. A passionate learner and people-person, Shalen joined Toastmasters to build confidence in public speaking, and now enjoys inspiring others to do the same. Outside of Toastmasters, she works in the agricommodities industry and finds joy in creative expression, pole dancing, and exploring good food spots.

Laura Wong
Secretary
“When words fall silent, I dance; when paws need a voice, I speak.”
Laura believes every story deserves a stage—whether it’s told with twirling feet or a well-placed punch line. Back in the day you could spot her salsa dancing across studio floors, proving that movement is simply courage in motion. Although she’s traded her dance shoes for a different mission, the rhythm remains: today she “catvocates” for Singapore’s stray and abandoned felines.
Toastmasters is her new rehearsal room. With each speech she hones the purr-suasive storytelling skills that will one day carry her message from Buona Vista Toastmasters Club to a city-wide—and perhaps global—audience. Because for Laura, communication isn’t just about eloquence; it’s about giving every whiskered friend the encore they deserve.

Futa Mimoto
Treasurer
Come join Toastmasters and become a part of BVTMC too!
Futa has always admired street performers who captivate their audience with nothing but their own presence. One day, when he visited a Toastmasters meeting, he felt the same sense of awe – mesmerizing the audience with just their speech, no props. Wanting to experience this himself, Futa joined BVTMC. As expected, it has been an amazing experience.
